GETTING DIRTY - ON THE ROAD WITH MIKE DREW

PHOTOGRAPHING THE SHEEP RIVER VALLEY

Nov. 7, 8 & 9

November is a special time of year in the Sheep River Valley. The bighorn sheep are back. While ewes and lambs gather in flocks, rams sniff around for mates. As tempers flare, the horns these sheep are famous for can often come to clash.

Friday evening, we’ll begin our adventure with a get-together. Over some wine and cheese, we’ll talk about what you’ll see, photo equipment, and dressing for the weather.

Saturday morning, we’ll wind our way through the foothills to Diamond Valley, then head west. We’ll see the Sandy McNabb area, Sheep River Falls, Bluerock Creek, winter birds, and other wildlife like mule and whitetail deer. We may even see a moose! Watching for bighorns along the way, we’ll likely find them in the meadow by Gorge Creek by mid-afternoon. The early dusk will offer us some beautiful light before we head back home.

Sunday morning - not too early, I promise - we’ll meet again to go over our pictures. I’ll show you some of my editing quirks and help you get the most out of what you have captured. The fun, informative weekend will wrap up with a draw for an autographed Mike Drew print!
